Ayurveda talks about specific urges that we shouldn’t resist, in order to help prevent dis-ease.
They are: yawning, laughing, crying, urination, bowel movements, gas, vomiting, sneezing, coughing and sleeping (though obviously too much of any of these is a sign that something is off balance and needs to be addressed).
Urges that need to be resisted are: unhealthy thinking, nasty speech, unhealthy actions (towards yourself or others), the urge for negative emotions such as jealousy, anger, greed, pride and fear, and working beyond our capacity.
So let your emotions go. But not in a damaging way.
